I had to learn much more about Weebly for my web design assignment. Learning how to apply the technology to my advantage was a learning lesson. But I did know! I understand more about how I would want to orient my class; what assignments I would give and what I would be looking for in my class. One of the more challenging steps was learning how to embed a digital app like Google Calendars into the website and tie it into the class. I utilized that for my "announcements" page and used the calendar as a map of due dates.  Using QR Codes as a way for parents to access my website would be a great way to connect with the parents while using creative technology. I would likely have the code on my syllabus. I would also use the QR Code as a way for students to access any surveys, bell work, or pop quizzes I could give out in class. I would create a way for students to still use technology in class while maintaining the demands of the material they need to learn, comprehend, and dis...

Blogging has become a fun journey for me. Writing a blog helps me with self-reflection and gets me in the frame of mind to think about how I'd like to teach and implement technology in my teaching practices. It also helps loosen up my writing skills as I usually tend to have more to write on as I write. It has helped me and made me consider writing blogs about topics other than just educational technology.     Wiki Spaces Classroom was the Web 2.0 tool that I would enjoy using for my students in the classroom. Wiki Spaces works as a build-your-own Wikipedia, and I would implement it for an English or History project. As a teacher, I can implement this technological tool and utilize its perks of allowing collaboration to spark social interaction and critical thinking in the classroom. Whether it's a country, an important historical event, a playwright, or even an important play, Wiki Spaces offers a way to allow students to show off what they know and allow ...

As a future teacher, the thought of copyright and fair use is a thought I probably should've given greater consideration. When I went to school I noticed the differences in material given based on the teacher. Some used curriculum-based made by the same people who made the course textbooks, some used teachers pay teachers, some made their own and some didn't have any technological materials for their class. I would love to create material for my class and to be able to infuse it with the lessons I teach. I do recognize if I'd ever try to sell any of my lessons I would need to make sure I can have ownership of the material, and in doing so correctly make the best lessons I can offer.      Academic dishonesty is my most feared issue as a teacher.   I plan to teach middle and high school English and History and through my years as a student I have experienced plenty of my friends showing apathy toward learning and because of that, findi ng sho...

Ever since I began using technology in school, Microsoft Word has always been the place to go when writing essays. I've always been fond of Word when it came to writing essays, mainly due to not having to get carpel tunnel from writing with my hand as much as simply typing. After leaving the 12th grade, my usage of MS Word has decreased since the program came from the public education system, and instead, I've found myself using Google Docs. I find Google Docs to be more convenient since all you need is a Gmail account and I have found it fun to utilize for not just essays but also any writing projects I could be interested in.       The ISTE Standard for educators goes over 7 main standards that should be upheld by educators today. These standards are ways for educators to focus on the most important objectives as a teacher, and help to further improve the learning experience of the student. The standard I most connect to is learning, mayb...

Originally, I only decided to take EME2040 as a general education credit and nothing more, but now after learning what this course was truly about I am filled with enthusiasm and excitement to learn! I hope that this class helps prepare me as a future educator so that I can efficiently utilize the technological resources I have to create the best learning environment I can offer for my students. I also hope to learn different types of educational resources and through using these resources, learn more about myself and the way I'd want to teach. This class also helps me think in retrospect to my learning experience as a student and how technology has affected me.      Since elementary school, technology has been a relevant and active part of my learning experience. If it wasn't my county school website, then it was "IReady" which was a K-5 math and literacy website, in high school it was mainly Blackboard to check on the classes we take, and that i...
